5 Summer Lip Picks
Summer has got me wanting brighter shades and longer lasting products. As a result, I've been opting for mattes, liquid lipsticks, and shades that aren't just the usual "my lips but better". Here are five that I have been reaching for the most.
My recent obsession is the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bow N Arrow. This product is worth all the hype, I promise. I love how easy the product is to apply as the applicator allows for great precision. The pigmentation and lasting power is also phenomenal. I can eat a meal, have a couple drinks, and still know that it will be there. It is not at all uncomfortable either, but if you do have very dry lips I do recommend exfoliating and moisturizing first. The colour is a great everyday shade for me, and even if Bow N Arrow is not your colour there are plenty more shades available from the range. And if it is important to you, this product is also vegan!
Another love of mine is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria. The entire CT Matte Revolution line has wowed me so far. I love that these give a pigmented and matte finish without being drying. They may not be creamy, but they are definitely not dry and don't tend to tug on the lips. I also love the squared off cut as surprisingly, it is actually quite easy to work with.
Two years ago I tried the Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick and didn't love it because it went on patchy. I was trying the shade Muse at the time. This time I decided to give Canvas a try and while I still don't find it as comfortable and even as other liquid lipsticks, I do like it and wear it. I love the shade though, so until I can find something just like it in a different formula, I'll be stick to this.
I apologize for this next one because I forgot that this shade is not in the permanent line. I'm talking about the BITE Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Torte. This shade came in a gift set, and it's just a bright strawberry pink that I just love with a simple neutral outfit. I always like wearing brighter shades on the lips and cheeks when wearing something very neutral.
Lastly, the mini of the Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is probably one of my favourite Sephora BI birthday gifts. This is such a great bright lipstick that comes off in a satin finish and shouts everyday spring and summer wear. After I use up the mini, I'm definitely considering getting the full size.
