May 2016 Favourites
Last month I was too busy to get a favourites post out, and I barely wore any makeup all month anyway. This month, I got back in the groove of things and have lots to share. From old loves to new discoveries, there are a lot of products that got me excited about makeup and skincare again.
I'm kicking this off with my most favourite of all favourites this month, the Weleda Sea Buckthorn Hand Cream. I was wandering Whole Foods on the first of the month when I decided to pick this up since I was in dire need of a hand cream. This is by far my favourite hand cream as it is just so healing. I apply a small amount each night before hitting the hay, and wake up with visibly smoother and healed hands. After the first use, this basically hit holy grail status in my books.
Sticking with green beauty, the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil has made such a difference to my skin. I have been using this consistently all month and my skin has never looked so radiant, and felt so smooth and hydrated. Any scarring I had before from breakouts started going away and overall, my skin just looks and feels healthy. I also need to give the REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial credit. I have been following the instructions on the back by using it every 3 days, and it really works. This exfoliator gives my skin a glow and leaves it feeling baby soft. Word of warning, unlike most REN products this smells bad. Once activated with water, it smells very metallic. However, I'd rather that than for it to be masked by heavy synthetic fragrances.
On the makeup front, I have primarily used the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint in Alaska as my everyday foundation. The shade match is just perfect for me right now and it just gives the most flawless finish. I use a very small amount of product all over the face and it just lasts all day without getting too shiny on my combination oily skin. On the cheeks I've been reaching for the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blissful for a warmer, peachy glow. It is incredibly long wearing and gives such a natural, summery flush to the cheeks.
Matte lipsticks are my favourite kind of lipsticks. The BITE Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Léché is the perfect light dusty pink. On my lips, it definitely comes off more pink than it appears in the tube, but it's a great spring and summer pick. One I can see myself wearing all year round is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria. I can't believe I waited so long to pick this one up. It is more of a muted pink shade, carrying more brown than pink tones. I absolutely love it for everyday wear.
