Keeping The Summer Glow

As the season winds down to an end and we see the leaves change colours, we sometimes begin to lose that summer glow. Fortunately I have a line-up of drinks and products I like to reach for that keep my skin clear and radiant so I can still avoid the heavier foundations in the cooler months.

I often find that I drink more water in the warmer months, for obvious reasons. When the weather cools I always need to remind myself to reach for water as regularly as before. It typically helps when I toss some lemon in it as I love the taste of it and makes water even more refreshing. In addition to providing vitamin C, lemon water is great for digestion and helps keep our pH levels in check. It is also high in anti-oxidants which helps keep the skin looking fresh.

For a warm option, I love green tea. It is such a soothing drink that is, again, packed with vitamin C and anti-oxidants. Like the lemons, I always buy organic. I think it's very important that we do, as we are drinking these for health benefits. The cleaner the ingredients, the better they are for you. My current favourite is a jasmine green tea by Silk Road Tea, a sustainable and organic Canadian brand.

In my skincare routine, I swear by the LUSH Tea Tree Water to keep my skin feeling fresh and spot free. I use it all year round and have repurchased it over and over again. It really is a staple in my collection at this point. For a glow-getting treatment, I use the REN Resurfacing AHA Concentrate every two weeks for seven days in a row. I always notice a difference in the radiance and texture of my skin.

Makeup is my last step when I'm really trying to achieve that glow. I recently picked up the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light which is the perfect everyday glow-getting product for me. Lightly dusted all over the face, it gives the skin a natural, blurred radiance to the complexion. Applied heavily, it can be used as a highlight in select areas such as the top of the cheekbones and down the nose. For an obvious highlight, the highlight shade in the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow is the perfect pick. The shade is just right for adding dimension while the slight shimmers are fine enough to just pick up the light without being obvious.
