Top 5 | Lipsticks

The third installment of the Top 5 Series is on lipsticks, a category of products that I more recently became obsessed with.

FRESH SUGAR LIP TREATMENT IN PETAL

When it comes to a quick wash of colour, I always reach for the this beautiful handbag staple. Fresh knows exactly what they're doing when it comes to a tinted lip balm. The sheer wash of colour gives the lips a hint of pink while the product itself provides just the right amount of nourishment without being sticky.

MAC SYRUP

Despite having tried many "everyday shades" and "my lips but better shades", I've always come back to this one because there is just something about it hard to beat. This cloudy pink shade is the perfect everyday neutral that adds a hint of colour that matches any look. The luster finish also gives the lips a light shine that discretely wears off over several hours.

BITE BEAUTY MATTE CREME LIP CRAYON IN SUCRE

While I do love MAC Syrup, I have always wanted to find a matte version of it as I do have a love for matte shades. Stumbling upon the Bite Beauty display I found this gem that can certainly be called the matte and darker sister of MAC Syrup. Although it is a matte, it is in no way drying and of course, has incredible lasting power.

BITE BEAUTY SUGARED MAPLE

I feel a little bad featuring a limited edition shade, but essentially this is MAC Rebel in a slightly more matte and shimmer-less finish. The bright purple-toned shade certainly makes a statement and is one I reserve for the evenings for a more dramatic look.

NARS VELVET MATTE LIP PENCIL IN DRAGON GIRL

Everyone needs to find the red that works for them and for me, it is Dragon Girl. This bright, slightly blue-toned red is the perfect pick for me as it gives a bold pop of colour while adding life to my complexion. I don't know what it is exactly about it but it just works. The finish is a comfortable matte that lasts for hours without feeling drying or coming off in patches.
