I guess I'm considered an adult now but it doesn't sound right because inside, I still feel like a child. There is so much to plan before I fly halfway across the country to kick off a new life in university. Growing up is a little scary, but here are eighteen things — in no particular order — I hope to maintain or start doing in the next year to be a better person.
1. DRINK MORE WATER
I only drink, at most, about 1L of water per day which is not enough. The goal is to now drink at least 1.5L a day and I will be able to track that by using my Camelbak water bottle that stores 0.75L.
Choose to walk. Do some at-home workouts. Go to the gym. I need to get off my arse and get some physical activity in my life.
3. EAT HEALTHY
It's going to be so tempting to make KD every night but a healthy brain and healthy heart requires healthy choices. Once in a while, I'll probably be sneaky and have a little unhealthy meal here and there but for the most part, I'm going to buy healthy and simple foods.
4. LEARN TO COOK
Buying ingredients to cook is going to be cheaper and usually healthier. I've already started bookmarking some websites that do healthy recipes so hopefully I can start learning from those. Cooking can't be that hard, right?
5. SAVE MONEY
I have pretty good control over my spending habits already but with all the upcoming expenses not too far ahead, it's probably good to make sure that I keep my good spending habits. Keep track of all the money that come and go through your bank account. Trust me, it'll help you build some better habits.
6. STAY ORGANIZED
I've always been on top of my work but now that I'm going to university, I'll have to keep a closer eye on my schedule. I go everywhere with my planner and I always update on Google Calendar as well.
7. STUDY MORE
I'm so lazy that I rarely study and when I do, I don't do a very good job of it. I have a hard time staying motivated to do something that doesn't come as a challenge for me so hopefully the work I'll get in university will help.
8. LEAVE TIME FOR EXTRAS
I'll have to make sure that I have enough time to do the things I like too such as run this blog, go outside, spend time with friends, and all that fun stuff.
9. SLEEP MORE
Go to bed early and wake up early. Make the most of each day while being healthy and well rested.
10. STOP PROCRASTINATING
Unfortunately, I procrastinate a lot. Hopefully I'll be too busy to have time to procrastinate. Time to follow a more strict schedule and build some better study habits!
11. BE ON TIME
I'm rarely late but sometimes I show up to things a couple of minutes late because I don't care enough and that's not okay.
12. STRESS LESS
I stress out a lot. It's probably because I worry too much about things and over think situations. If I build better habits, I'm convinced that I'll stress less and get better sleep.
13. SMILE MORE
Sometimes, I just look so unfriendly and angry even though I'm not because I don't smile often enough. I should be more conscious of my expressions to make a better impression of myself sometimes.
14. LOVE MORE, CARE MORE
I don't spend enough time making sure that the people around me are happy. I should make sure that I spend time staying in touch with my current group of friends because I'm going to miss them and I want us to always be friends.
15. SHARING IS CARING
It's not that I'm not generous, it's just that I don't always offer to share things with people. I should do it more often because sometimes, it's just the right thing to do.
16. DOCUMENT MORE OF YOUR LIFE
I am going to write in my "One Line a Day" book every day. I am going to take more photos of my everyday life. I am going to blog when I can.
17. TAKE MORE RISKS
Of course, I won't be doing anything too dangerous but sometimes I don't like trying new things because I'm afraid that I won't like it. This year, I will take more risks within reason.
18. BE YOURSELF
Always remember to be yourself. Be happy, speak your mind, have more fun.
What are some of your personal goals?
