I'm thrilled to announce that LA-based beauty and skincare brand, Beautycounter, will be launching in Canada on March 15. Founder and CEO, Gregg Renfrew, uses a 5-Step Ingredient Selection Process that starts by restricting over 1500 harmful ingredients in products to provide safe and effective beauty and skincare products. Established in 2013, Beautycounter has been available to those in the US and is now reaching out to its neighbours here in Canada. It's worth noting that Canada actually has limited regulations of cosmetic ingredient safety relative to the rest of the world such as the EU which has restricted nearly 1,400 ingredients from personal care. I'm happy to add Beautycounter to my list of brands to buy from.

The Beautycounter Soothing Face Wash* was the first product I tried and I absolutely love it. It is super gentle with antioxidant-rich botanical extracts like apricot kernel oil, and raspberry and cranberry seed oils. I don't remove eye makeup with this, but I can remove face makeup with it and it actually does a great job! I love that it leaves my skin clean and super soft.

Their day cream, the Beautycounter Every Day AM Hydrating Cream* is a simple daytime moisturizer that sits great under makeup. It keeps my combination/oily skin feeling hydrated without getting greasy throughout the day. I can see myself using this both in the winter months and the summer months because it's just so light yet nourishing!

In the evenings, the Beautycounter Lustro Face Oil 3 in Ylang Ylang & Wild Chamomile* is great for balancing the skin. Using pure plant oils, this product sinks into the skin rather than sit on the skin which can be an issue when using synthetic oils. You don't have to worry about this clogging pores or staining pillowcases because it just absorbs right in so beautifully. I was a little worried at first because it is a thicker oil, but it just glides on and my skin drinks it right up. You can apply this directly to the face or mix it with a moisturizer. Right now I'm using it with a moisturizer but in the summer I might just use just the oil.

For now, Canada will be able to purchase Beautycounter's skincare range. I am patiently waiting for their makeup to reach Canada as well, as everything looks absolutely fantastic! I'm especially eager to try out their Tint Skin Foundation, Color Pinch Cream Blusher, and Lip Sheer. I am so in love with Beautycounter products and just can't wait to try more of their products. Beautycounter might just be my new favourite skincare brand!
