I'm no expert at applying makeup, but I do have a handful of products that I would consider fool proof. These are products that I reach for when I'm in a hurry but need to look put together. If I can pick these up and make it work in a 5 minute look, I'm sure you can too.

If there is one thing I skip when I don't have much time, it would be eyeshadow. Over the past year I've been experimenting a little more with eye makeup and the single product that made everything a whole lot easier was the MAC 217 brush. Who knew this multipurpose brush could be so good at packing on base shadows and blending crease colours? Matching base shadows with crease colours can be a challenge though, which is why I reach for the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette to make sure I don't screw up. For a one wash wonder though, the Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Lots o' Latte is perfect. I draw the product onto my lids straight from the tube, sans primer, and blend out the edges with a fluffy brush.

On the cheeks, I know I can't go wrong with the NARS Blush in Luster. It's a slightly shimmery apricot blush that gives the cheeks slight definition with a hint of highlight. If I need a more matte look though, the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed is perfect for that gently sculpted, rosy look. Both products stay all day and are incredibly pigmented which makes it easy to quickly apply and go. If I'm looking for a hint of extra glow though, the Benefit Watts Up highlight is a great cream option that can easily be applied with fingers. I just tap this along the top of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose for a subtle, healthy glow.

My most recent lip product addition has quickly become a favourite as it is so easy to wear. The Dior Lip Glow can be applied on the go for a hint of colour and moisture. For a full on colour though, NARS Niagara is a great one for the spring and summer while MAC Syrup is a good autumn and winter option.

What products do you reach for most when you're in a hurry for a fool-proof look?

  1. Love that blush! I tend to skip eyeshadow too when I'm in a hurry and go for pencil or liquid liner, but I totally agree, the 217 is great! ;) xx

  5. I'll have to look into those Chubby Sticks for Eyes; I love things that are one-wash wonders and the fact that you can apply it directly and not have to dip your fingers into anything really appeals to the germaphobe in me.
When I'm in a rush I go for pencil liners - if I mess up I can just smudge it out!

  7. I always try to have my time with make up, because I love eye shadows so much! I prefer to wake really early in order to have proper time to get ready! My last post was about the Dior Addict Lip Glow too! :)

  12. I think you'll really like them! It's not even the germs that annoy me, it's the fact that I even have to get my fingers covered in cream shadows. Some of them are pretty tough to get off!
I have yet to find a pencil liner that I love, but the MUFE Aqua Eyes are quite nice. I've heard good things about the NARS and UD ones as well but have yet to give them a go. xx

  14. I love getting ready for days out because I love playing with eye shadows too! Most days I'm just going to class though so there's no need to dress up and usually no time! xx
